New Kids on The Block.

Finally a chance to change this around a little bit.

No, your not reading this wrong. Neither should you be surprised with the gradual changes that are to come about.

The very spectacular EXCO for the Debates Society of 2009 has officially stepped down and has paved the way for a new generation of influential, confident and utterly argumentative and stubborn individuals to lead the way.

For those of you who don't already know, the new kids on the block are here. It's time for the EXCO of 2010 to shine.

There is..

Wei Han as Chairperson
Yaksh Birla (that's me) as Vice-Chair
Carmen as the Publicity IC
& Vrinda as the Treasurer

We are all going to strive to make the next 2 years memorable for all of you and once again thank everyone single one who made us the dictators in Debates Society.

Expect a lot more goodness and a lot more fun, starting with the Farewell for the J2s. We hope that your support for us stays strong and in turn, foster a inter-dependent relationship.

For now, however, i'll have to leave you all to get back to my P.I. ( PW is a ...! )
Once again, thank you for all your support and please ensure that this blog doesn't die out. Feel free to comment on aspects that you feel should be improved upon.

Godspeed.

Signing out,
Your humbled Vice-Chair.

Debate meeting for ALL DEBATERs (J1s & J2s)

Hi everyone,
The agenda for this Wednesday's training is as follows:
1. Campaign for exco positions for J1s
2. Celebrate the accomplishments of the J2s over a screening {Boston  Legal}

All J1s are strongly encouraged to stand for elections for the posts of President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Publicity I/C, except for those who are committed to other CCAs or activities. Please prepare a 5 minute speech to persuade the members to vote for you. Each member will be given 4 votes. Expect some 'friendly' fire from the J2s based on your speech. A document is attached for your reference but don't be too stressed over it.

We will start immediately after Council investiture, which is expected to end at 3.30pm.

Thanks.

Semi-finalists: HCI,VJC,ACSI and MJC!

Hello there!
Here's some bittersweet news. For the very first time,MJC reached the semi finals of the MIDC,beating top debating schools such as ACJC. The bitter bit is we didn't make it to the finals. :(
But oh well,as the proposition we put an onus on the juniors to reach the finals next year!
Anyhow, the MIDC team would want to thank our wonderful coach,Jamie for without her we would never have achieved what we did. We'd also like to thank Mrs Lok and Mr Sunderaj for believing in us when we did not, sending us research, buying cue cards, ice cream and doing so much more. Also to our juniors who came down to support us,thankyou for your smiles and words of encouragement. Last but not least to the awesomest debating team-Nic,Ben,Sanchita,Wei Han and Dhwani who managed to put aside all differences and work so well as a team.I remember the nostalgia when we all realized it was our last debate. Believe it or not,we'll miss all the prep times and the trainings.

Oh and before I forget, let me remind the dear J1s we want a GRAND FAREWELL.
